Joola is a HUGE name in Pickleball.
They gained some serious traction with the Hyperion paddle. Had massive success. It doesn’t hurt when the world number one Ben Johns is dominating with your paddle.
So what does Joola do?
They up the paddle game again with the Joola Perseus Pickleball Paddles and Joola Scorpeus Pickleball Paddles.
In this blog post, I am going to go thru the features of the two paddles and review the sizes and shapes that are available to you to fit your style of play.
It was an exciting test and one that I am happy to report back on.
Let’s get started.
What Is the Joola Perseus Paddle?
The Joola Ben Johns Perseus paddle was developed in collaboration with world number one player himself. The paddle is an elongated shape and really has some great performance to match.
The JOOLA Ben Johns Perseus Paddle really shows JOOLA’s commitment to bringing the latest advancements in technology and design to the market. They chose not to rest on the success of the Hyperion and pushed the limit even further. They have really brought a lot of innovation to pickleball paddles since joining the scene and it has been great for the sport overall.
When the world’s top-ranked pickleball player is involved in every aspect of creating a paddle, you can expect nothing less than the best. Ben Johns’ knowledge and skill played a big role in the design of this paddle.
The Ben Johns Perseus paddle uses the charged carbon surface technology. With this, you get great power and pop without losing any of the control.
The combination of power and control makes this paddle literally one of the best pickleball paddles on the market. This paddle is made for the strong high intermediate to advanced/pro level type player.
Could a beginner or intermediate use it? For sure. But I don’t feel they would be maximizing the capabilities of this paddle.
They did a nice job of focusing on the sweet spot in this paddle. Very good power and still very forgiving too. I find this paddle to be extremely consistent in my play.
Its completely enclosed carbon build increases the strength and durability of the paddle.
In short, the JOOLA Ben Johns Perseus Paddle raises the standard of excellence in pickleball paddle design.
Joola Ben Johns Perseus CFS 14
The new JOOLA Ben Johns Perseus CFS 14 Carbon Fiber Pickleball Paddle has some really nice improvements to an already great paddle line up from Joola.
As the successor to the super popular and successful Ben Johns Hyperion CFS 14 paddle, this one has a more squared-off head and a slightly lighter weight to it. With this, you get a little more of an increased hand speed.
The 14mm Reactive Honeycomb core offers has some precise touch and impressive bounce to it. I liked the comfortable mid weight feel of 7.8 ounces and really liked the extended 5.5″ handle. I like a longet handle and this paddle allowed me room to generate high swing speeds for powerful drives and two handed backhands.
The Carbon Friction Surface provides great control and feel. It helps the ball stay on the paddle longer, so you can control and spin the ball well.

Joola Ben Johns Perseus CFS 16
So I will start off and say this is my favorite paddle at time of writing. AND, I loved the Hyperion paddle. The highly anticipated successor to the acclaimed Ben Johns Hyperion CFS 16 paddle does it all in my opinion. Power. Control. Feel. Spin. Consistentcy.
I loved the powerful elongated design and the nice 8.0 oz weight to go with it. The core of this paddle is just awesome. It is a responsive 16mm core. Add to that a 5.5 inch handle and a 11″ x 7.5″ Carbon Friction Surface and WOW!
But, back to the core. The 16mm thick core and sturdy carbon fiber face is where you really feel the great control and spin. The handle, featuring JOOLA’s Sure Grip, is great for two-handed backhands, which I do enjoy.
The foam injection around the edges balance the power and help reduce vibration. It also helps create a sizable sweet spot for accurate dinking, controlled shots, and powerful drives.

The Scorpeus is really nice all around. Good with the dinks…good with the drives.
The advanced carbon surface technology really give you the power and pop and is still very accurate.
The wider paddle face gives you a large sweet spot with great forgiveness. It also has a fully encased carbon construction. This increases the paddle’s strength and stability.

Joola Scorpeus Anna Bright CFS 14
The JOOLA Anna Bright Scorpeus CFS 14 Carbon Fiber Pickleball Paddle is a great blend of power and control.
The 14mm Reactive Honeycomb Polymer core has AWESOME pop.
The 5.25″ handle with JOOLA’s Sure Grip is super comfortable and I had no issues with it.
The shape is a conventional 16″ x 8″ so it has a familiar feel. The 11.75″ x 8″ Carbon Friction Hitting Surface gives good control and forgiveness on off center hits.
The coarse-textured carbon fiber surface helps with ball grip, so you get good spin and cut shots. With an average weight of 7.8 ounces, the paddle is super easy to use at the kitchen and super reactive on those defensive shots.
In conclusion, the JOOLA Anna Bright Scorpeus CFS 14 Carbon Fiber Paddle provides a nice balance of strength, stability and precision in a classic design.

The carbon fiber face and JOOLA’s Carbon Friction Surface, give you wonderful ball control and spin.
The 5.25″ handle is standard. No issues unless you really like a longer handle. But it felt roomy enough for my two handed backhands and had good reach close to the non-volley zone.
